  • Is Chiropractic treatment safe?
The answer is yes! Although there are rare incidences of Chiropractic treatment aggravating pre-existing injuries, there is a great amount of research supporting its effectiveness with minimal adverse reactions. As well, there are many other safe treatment options Chiropractors can use to assist in the patient’s health, including muscle release therapy and postural reconditioning. Not every patient needs to be “adjusted”, and other forms of treatment can always be considered between the Chiropractor and patient.
  • Is it true that if I see a Chiropractor, I need to see one for an ongoing basis?
Absolutely not! While there are conditions that require long-term management, we need to consider what patients do outside of the clinic and utilize interventions that way for successful outcomes. Simply put, what you do in a 20-30 minute treatment with your Health Practitioner does not matter if you are engaging in countless hours/day of aggravating activities, such as poor posture when sitting. The best results come from engagement of both the patient and the practitioner, and that is something MCMRehab strives for.
  • Do chiropractors treat more than just lower back pain?
Chiropractors have an extensive amount of knowledge in many different complaints that patients can experience, including rotator cuff injuries, joint arthritis, carpal-tunnel syndrome, tennis/golfer’s elbow, and ligament injuries of the knee and ankle. At MCMRehab, we liked to be viewed as a resource for any concerns patients may have, which is beneficial in contributing to a strong doctor-patient relationship.
  • Are the sounds you hear from being “adjusted” bones breaking?
Bone fractures are extremely rare for anyone receiving treatment. While the general public views these sounds as bones breaking or bones going back into place, that is not the case. The audible sounds that are heard is air rushing from outside the joint space into a restricted joint space, allowing for better movement.
  • What type of rehabilitation do Chiropractors focus on?
This all depends on the complaint. For example, Chiropractors can focus on mobility training for patients experiencing postural issues resulting in stiffness, while another approach Chiropractors can take for patients experiencing Lower Back pain can include core and pelvic stabilization. Each treatment plan is tailored differently for the patient and their condition, which is why not all treatment plans are the same.
